You tell me live

“When I’m lost and it seems the end, like there’s only certain death. You tell me to live. When dark clouds cover the sky, like there’s no hope; you are the light. You tell me to live. When I’m all by myself, and I’m scared about my health. You tell me to live. And when you heal my broken wings, yes you heal my everything. You tell me to live.”

This man has been a huge influence for me.

DAY 202: The Rocket Summer - Life Will Write the Words
Now, if you haven’t heard of the Rocket Summer i suggest you find the closest mirror, take a hard look at yourself, give your face a slap, then return to read the rest of this blog post.
…
…
… There, have you done it? Good. Well The Rocket Summer is a band who are a bit special. Mostly because they are not a ‘they’ but actually a ‘he’. The he being Bryce Avery and he record the albums by himself (pretty much). He write the songs and performs all of the instruments on the records. He sings, plays the guitars, the pianos, the drums, the bass, the ukelele, the xylophone, the glochenspiel, the typewriter (that’s not a joke, he ‘plays’ one on this album, he says so in the CD insert). Everything. It’s quite amazing really. His first album, Calendar Days he recorded by himself, on $10,000, in 6 six weeks in his very early 20s. The guys is nothing short of a music prodigy and never ceases to amaze me with his music.
This is his latest album and its been made and distributed on his own independant record label. It’s a slight departure in sound but it’s just more mature, and at the same time more raw. It’s almost experimental at times and when I first listened through the album I wasn’t so sure. But now im probably on my 4th listen of the day and I can’t help but sing along to the song 200,000 which is epic.
Right, if you slapped yourself a minute ago then I now suggest you go on youtube, look this guy up and listen as much as you can.

Well said my friend!
